Problem Note 41166: PDFA files created with ODS might not display with Adobe Acrobat Reader

Beginning with SAS® 9.2, the ODS PRINTER destination has the ability to create PDFA files, which are archivable PDF files that are compliant with PDF/A-1b. The files can be created with code like the following:

options printerpath=pdfa; ods printer file="pdfa.pdf" ; proc print data=sashelp.class; run; ods printer close;

These files will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader but might display as blank.

To circumvent the problem, change the following setting within Adobe Acrobat Reader:

Edit
Preferences
Categories: Documents
PDF/A View Mode: choose Never for "View documents in PDF/A mode:".
